As a Southern mama, I love nothing more than hosting a party. For my son’s second birthday, I was thrilled when he requested a party centered around his favorite bedtime story, “Peter Pan.” I created our own little backyard Neverland birthday bash, which was truly magical. Come along and join us … the second star on the right, and straight on til’ morning!

We greeted our tiny guests with plenty of dress-up options! All of these items were found on Amazon, making for favors that were not only cute but convenient.
Everyone Enjoyed Peter Pan’s Favorite Foods
Lost boys, pirates, fairies, and Peter Pan enjoyed a buffet of the birthday boy’s favorite things. Hook’s Pirates Booty, Peter Pan cake pops, Tiger Lily Teepee cookies, and Tic Toc Croc Nuggets. A local baker created the sweets for us, and, of course, Chick-fil-A nuggets are always a hit with the littles. (Extra tip: Did you know you can freeze Chick-fil-A party trays? Ask for instructions at pick-up if you ever need pre-purchase for a party.)
Simple Party Favors and Games
Our paper printables and invitations were designed by a darling Etsy shop, Studio Ringo, and they tied together the details. After snacks, we had a pirate treasure dig. Anything the kids found, they got to keep. This sweet but simple party game was such a hit. Toddlers love to dig and enjoy finding the simple “treasures” like beads, coins, and trinkets we buried for them. A quick trip to Lowe’s for playground-grade sand and a galvanized tub is all you need to get started.
A Special Cake
Lastly, it wouldn’t be a birthday without cake. Our spectacular baker brought my vision to life by recreating the iconic silhouette images of Peter Pan and the Darling children as they fly over London’s Big Ben on their way to Neverland. This sweet petite cake was pure perfection and truly unforgettable.
After he blew the candles out and we cut the cake, we gave each guest a copy of our favorite bedtime story: A Little Golden Book: Peter Pan!
I can’t believe my sweet boy is now three, and this precious Neverland birthday party was over a year ago. If only real life were like Neverland, they would never grow up. Cheers!
