Yogurt is an excellent whole-food snack with many benefits for children’s health and well-being.1 It’s also easy to transport, making it a perfect snack to take on the go. But what if your child doesn’t like yogurt? No worries — you can still serve it without them even realizing it!

3 Ways to Sneak Yogurt Into Your Child's Diet

Here are three ways you can sneak yogurt into your child’s diet:

Peaches and Cream Yogurt

Plain yogurt itself can be a bit tart, so try this delicious, easy recipe using yogurt and peaches (makes about 1 cup).

You’ll need the following:

  • One ripe peach, halved and peeled
  • 1/2 cup plain whole-milk yogurt
  • A few drops of alcohol-free vanilla extract (optional)

Start by bringing an inch or so of water to a boil in a pan fitted with a steamer. Place the peach in the steamer and cover it. Steam until the fruit is soft when you pierce it with a knife and until the skin is loose (4 to 6 minutes). Let cool. Then, use a sharp paring knife to remove the peach skin. Mash the peach with a fork to the right consistency for your baby. Spoon the yogurt into a bowl and stir in the vanilla extract (if using). Top with the peach!

You can refrigerate it for up to two days or freeze individual portions of mashed peaches for up to three months.

Mix It in a Smoothie

Yogurt is a terrific addition to smoothies since it makes them even creamier and more filling. All you need is frozen fruit, fruit juice (like apple juice, orange juice, or pineapple juice), and yogurt. Stonyfield yogurt adds protein to a smoothie, which typically has very little of this nutrient. Combine all your ingredients in a blender, and serve this drink to your little one on a hot day!

Mix It in Your Pasta Sauce

Adding yogurt to your pasta sauce can boost its nutritional value.1 It also gives a creamy finish to many pasta recipes already in your arsenal! For instance, you can add yogurt to a classic tomato sauce for spaghetti or incorporate it into an Alfredo pasta sauce. This makes for a simple lunch or dinner that you can pair with healthy veggies, such as broccoli or spinach.

These three methods will help you make fun and yummy summer snacks so your kids can reap all the health benefits of yogurt!
